Fianna Fáíl presidential candidate Jim Gavin paid a visit to Portlaoise on Thursday, as part of his campaign trail.
Students at Gaelscoil Portlaoise welcomed Mr Gavin through their doors, and appeared star-struck by the candidate.
The Portlaoise students went wild for the candidate, cheering and screaming with delight. Mr Gavin held a Q&A with children, with one student requesting that he announce 'no homework' for students.
The hall shook with cheers from the students when Mr Gavin announced a night off from homework. Students pushed and queued for the candidate to sign their campaign leaflets, shin pads and goalie gloves.
