Additional measures put in place after the heavy rain over the weekend

Farmers and tractors are on standby to assist in pulling cars stuck at Electric Picnic in Laois.

Festival organiser Melvin Benn told reporters that additional measures have been put in place given the heavy rain over the weekend.

“We have put additional woodchips out. There is no shortage of farmers and tractors willing to help and we have additional farmers and tractors coming in to pull people out,” said Mr Benn.

He was aiming to have the site cleared by 2pm or 3pm on Monday.

Offering advice to those when leaving the festival he said: “Be patient, that's the key thing. “We will get you out, if it is a bit wet we will get you out. We have put additional trackways in different places. We have to be patient and people are.

“You don’t come to a festival in Ireland and not expect a little bit of rain.”
