Meath songstress CMAT was forced to cancel a gig in Paris on Friday night but issued an update to fans on social media ahead of Electric Picnic

Electric Picnic-goers are hopeful that CMAT will recover from a bout of gastroenteritis to make the main stage in Stradbally on Saturday night after the Meath songstress was forced to cancel a gig in Paris on Friday night due to illness.

CMAT issued a statement on social media early on Friday to apologise to fans in France. She wrote: "I am very sorry to say we are no longer able to play our show at Rock en Seine today.

"I have gastroenteritis and was due to travel yesterday, but was not able, and I have not fully recovered to travel today. Alongside this, last night's flight into Paris carrying most of our band, crew and gear was cancelled due to a thunderstorm so unfortunately due to this double dose, it’s not possible to play today.

"I am really sorry for anyone who was coming to see us. Xx."

Despite the bad news for those fans in Paris, it appears as though CMAT will make her stage time in Laois on Saturday as there has been no official word of a cancellation and the Stay For Something singer remains on the bill to play the main stage before Gorillaz on Saturday night.

CMAT took to social media on Friday night to give an update on her situation, writing: "Crazy that in the last 48 hours, I have: 1. been innovating new types of bowel movements with this awful stomach bug. 2. had a record go silver in the UK! Life really happens all at once."

She posted on Saturday morning: “If you are going to EP festival, see you at the main stage tonight at 9pm.”

CMAT is one of the main attractions at this year’s Electric Picnic festival and will draw a huge crowd to what will be her first performance on home soil in Ireland since her gigs in St Anne’s Park last May.
