WATCH: Tents blowing around Electric Picnic as clean-up gets underway

The cleanup following Electric Picnic has begun, with tents caught on camera flying around the campsite

Campers are making their way home after three days of music and mud at Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Co. Laois.

The clean-up is getting underway, with tents, rubbish, and lots of sequins expected to be left behind.

Zara Larsson, Lewis Capaldi, and Fontaines D.C. were just three of the main headliners over the weekend.

Names like Sombr, CMAT, and Amble also performed for the festival of about 80,000 people.

The weather was wet and windy, yet warm for those in attendance, but the rain didn’t dampen spirits.

It did, however, cause some cars to get stuck in the mud.

Farmers and tractors have been on standby to assist in pulling cars, according to the Festival Director, Melvin Benn.

Gardaí are urging those who do make it onto the road to be cautious of drug or drink drivers.

"Garda checkpoints will be in place over the course of the weekend to detect those driving while under the influence. Should a driver fail a roadside test, they will be arrested. A blood sample will be taken and should that sample show the presence of a substance or indicates a blood/alcohol level above the legal limit to drive, the person potentially faces a disqualification and fine,” a spokesperson said.

The traffic was said to be light this morning, with the busiest period expected between now and 4pm as people head for home.

“Electric Picnic are doing everything possible to reduce queuing but there is only so much capacity on the roads,” a statement from the festival said.

Plans are already being made for Electric Picnic 2027, with Melvin confirming there will not be a change in capacity or ticket prices.

Partner pre-sale begins tomorrow, while loyalty and general sale begin on Friday, September 4.

Tickets can range between €245.50 and €325.50 depending on the loyalty tier.
