Portarlington train station in Laois was evacuated on Tuesday around 4 pm after a fire broke out in a maintenance workshop, a stone building that runs next to the platform.
Fire brigades from four stations attended the blaze and there has been extensive damage to the roof of the workshop.
The gallery of pictures above by Ray Commins shows the emergency services in action and some of the damage at the station.
