A professional golf coach is swapping the clubs for high heels to take to the stage of the Laois Rose Selection.
Mary Ward, 26, sponsored by JCONN Construction Limited, is a PGA golf coach.
"I work at the Golf Ireland Academy in Carton House. I was born and raised in the Laois countryside, and I grew up playing numerous different sports, including golf.
"My home club is The Heath Golf Club and I represented both Leinster and Ireland at various tournaments around the world.
"I earned a golf scholarship to Maynooth university where I completed a bachelor’s degree in New Media and Anthropology. During my time in Maynooth, I played competitively, studied, wrote weekly articles for the Irish Golfer Magazine and worked two part-time jobs in both a clothes shop and in the golf facility I now coach at.
"Luckily, my workplace offered me the opportunity to do a three-year PGA golf studies degree, which I recently completed to become a fully qualified coach," Mary told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
Mary will join 16 other impressive young Laois women to take to the stage in the Midlands Park Hotel this Easter Sunday night, April 9.
Tickets are €25 and will be available on the evening so get there early. Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 7.30pm sharp.
