Cara Phelan
A young Laois woman who has stood in goals for her county in Gaelic sports, is all set to stand on stage and scoop the coveted Laois Rose sash.
Cara Phelan, 18, from Portlaoise is sponsored by Harding’s Butchers.
"I'm currently studying for a Bachelor degree in English, Religion and History in St Patrick's College, Carlow with the intention of completing a Masters in Education to become a secondary school teacher. I work part-time in Phelan's restaurant in Mountrath.
"I'm an active member of my community and volunteer in a number of organisations. I enjoy travelling. I'm a sporty person and play camogie and football for my club and college and I have represented my County in both codes as a goalkeeper.
"I'm looking forward to representing my County as a rose and it will be nice to be dressed up for this occasion," Cara said.
She is among 17 talented Laois Rose entrants who will take to the stage in the Midlands Park Hotel this Easter Sunday night, April 9, in a gala event supported by an audience of their families and communities. The winning Laois Rose will go on to the Rose of Tralee televised final this August.
Tickets are €25 and will be available on the evening so get there early. Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 7.30pm sharp.
See this week's Leinster Express newspaper for profiles of all 17 Laois Rose Entrants.
