A student teacher of PE and mathematics is setting her sights on the Laois Rose final this weekend, hoping to bring pride to her family and community.
Leah Moffit, 21 describes herself as a proud Raheen woman.
"I'm in third year studying PE and Maths teaching at the University of Limerick. I also work part-time in Penneys Portlaoise. Prior to this, I worked in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel who have kindly sponsored me for the Laois Rose Selection.
"I have many interests but you will often find me on the sidelines supporting Colt and Colt-Shanahoe GAA and Ballyroan Bluestars Basketball teams. I have previously assisted in training some of the juvenile basketball teams which sparked my interest in working with young people.
"I have really enjoyed meeting and getting to know all of the other ladies that entered the Laois rose selection. Without doubt, I have made friends for life. I’m really looking forward to the selection night where I hope to do my family, friends and local community proud," Leah said.
All of the Laois Rose entrants will take to the stage in the Midlands Park Hotel this Easter Sunday night, April 9, in a gala event supported by an audience of their families and communities. The winning Laois Rose will go on to the Rose of Tralee televised final this August.
Tickets are €25 and will be available on the evening so get there early. Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 7.30pm sharp.
See this week's Leinster Express newspaper for profiles of all 17 Laois Rose Entrants.
