Upwards of 75,000 will descend on the majestic grounds of Stradbally Hall for the Electric Picnic in September but few will every have seen the inside of stately home at the heart of the Laois estate that hosts the big music and arts festival annually.
You can be one of the rare few to see inside the house during Heritage Week 2023.
A member of Historic Houses of Ireland, Stradbally Hall is surrounded by over 500 acres of rolling park and woodland.
Although best known as the home of the Picnic, Stradbally Hall has been home to the Cosby family for almost 500 years and they continue to work to preserve it for generations to come.
Laois County Council's Heritage Office is co-ordinating Heritage Week event with Thomas Cosby.
"A hidden gem in the heart of the Irish Midlands, it is a fine embodiment of living heritage. Find out more about how Stradbally Hall has changed over the centuries and how it continues to thrive today. We look forward to welcoming you for tours throughout Heritage Week," he said.
The house will be open to the public from 10 am to 1 pm during Heritage Week from Saturday to Saturday August 12 to 19 for guided tours of Stradbally Hall.
The entry fee for adults is €10 while children are free. For more details email: thomascosby1974@gmail.com or telephone: 086 8519272
