Laois people are going to be on the television every week for months after Christmas, as the county stars at the 2023 Operation Transformation base.

A different Laois town and village will be featured every episode, in fitness trainer Karl Henry's recorded Ad Break Challenge.

The very first one will be on December 29 in Stradbally.

"This year the ad break challenge will take place in a different Laois town every week! We want to see YOU at the first Ad Break Challenge with Karl Henry in Stradbally on Thursday 29/12/2022. A great way to kick off the New Year!" say the makers.

They can then later tune in and see themselves on national television.

Participants are invited to meet in Court Square, Stradbally at 5.45pm on Thursday, December 29, and get ready to show the nation how they can keep up the tough short fitness challenges with Karl.

The stunning setting of the Malt House Stradbally will be the studio base for the series, and it will also be the location where the experts have their weekly face to face meeting with the Leaders.

Laois was selected after SVT (Stradbally, Vicarstown and Timahoe) Activity & Wellness Hub applied for the honours.

Two of the show's experts are Laois people, Dr Eddie Murphy and Dr Sumi Dunne are both from Portarlington.

‘As the Clinical Psychologist on Operation Transformation I am overjoyed that Laois, my home county is our home for 2023 - the blue zone in the heart of Ireland," Dr Murphy said.

“It’s fantastic to have OT in Laois.  Over the years the people of Laois have followed and supported OT in so many ways, it is lovely for me to now represent Laois in Laois,” Dr Dunne said.

On Wednesday January 4th, 2023, Operation Transformation begins its 16th series RTE One at 21.35.  Over eight weeks, five ordinary people will share their journey for better health and wellbeing with the nation and invite others to follow them as they do the Operation Transformation Food and Fitness Plan.
