Cannabis sweets and 20 kgs of herb worth have been seized by Gardaí and the Revenue officers in Athy.
A spokesperson for the Revenue’s Customs Service said outlined the operation which took place on Thursday, April 27.
"The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service (RCS), the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Kildare Divisional Drugs Unit.
"During the course of the operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 17 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €340,000."
"In a follow up search at an Industrial premises in Athy, a further 3kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €60,000, and 272 packets of edible jellies, with an estimated value of €13,600, were seized.
"A man in his 40s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996," they said.
A statement said the man was subsequently charged and was due to appear before a sitting of the Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice on April 28.
Investigations are ongoing according to the Revenue service which added that the operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
