Hundreds of community groups around Laois have been given the opportunity to have issues of concerned tabled to Laois Offaly Gardaí for public discussion.

The Joint Policing Committee (JPC) annual public meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 20 at 3:30pm

Ahead of the meeting, the Laois Public Participation Network (PPN) invited groups around Laois to participate. It has three representatives on the JPC - Bobby Delaney, Tom Jones and Sara Geraldine Rasool.

Laois PPN explained JPC's role in its invite.

"The purpose of a Joint Policing Committee is to provide a forum where a Local Authority and the senior Garda officers responsible for the policing of the area, with the participation of Oireachtas members and Community interests, can consult, discuss and make recommendations on matters affecting the policing of the area. All members should work in partnership to identify, raise awareness and find solutions to issues impacting on the community, thus contributing to improved safety and quality of life," it said.

If any groups have any concerns that they wish the JPC Reps to bring to the meeting on their behalf, the Laois PPN asks they they please email ppn@laoiscoco.ie by  Friday, November 3 at 5pm.

Laois PPN consists of over 650 member groups from the community, social inclusion and environmental sectors. All groups registered with Laois PPN are given the opportunity to attend Laois PPN events. Any group wishing to join Laois PPN can do so by completing the application on the Laois PPN website www.laoisppn.ie
