A woman allegedly assaulted three gardaí during a public order incident in Portlaoise.

Winnie McDonagh, 57, of 31 The Curragh Plains, Kildare is alleged to have assaulted the gardaí at Market Square in Portlaoise on December 27 last year. She is also accused of being intoxicated and engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour during the same incident and causing criminal damage to the interior door of a public order garda van on the same date.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the case was to be heard in the district court.

Solicitor Philip Meagher said “looking at the alleged location, there may be CCTV.”

Judge Nicola Andrews ordered disclosure to Mr Meagher and granted legal aid.

She adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on May 13.
