Gardaí say a further four people were arrested for driving under the influence at the Electric Picnic in Stradbally on Saturday.

The motorists all failed roadside tests for alcohol and drugs resulting in their arrest. In total eight motorists have been arrested for driving under the influence on Friday and Saturday at the festival.

Gardaí are advising people that they will be conducting checkpoints throughout the festival targeting drug and drink driving.

Meanwhile, said there had been five arrests for public order offences associated with intoxication at the festival on Saturday. They said the figure is “nothing out of the ordinary” for a festival of such a size.
