A teenager appeared in court accused of obstructing gardaí and refusing to give his name and address.
Rico Donoghue (18) of 2 Heather Lane, Esker Hills, Portlaoise, is accused of engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour, failing to comply with the directions of gardai, refusing to give his name to gardaí and obstructing gardaí at Esker Hills, Portlaoise on August 6, 2025.
Solicitor Philip Meagher was given details of the allegations.“I will have to consider the document that has been furnished to me,” he told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
Mr Meagher asked for disclosure in the case and a date for either a plea or a date for hearing. He said his client was living with his parents and not working as he requested legal aid.
Judge Catherine Hayden granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on September 22.
