There were two separate attempted robberies involving a man armed with a knife in Laois just days apart in the past week.
One frightening incident took place in Portlaoise, where a woman was approached while in her car.
The second happened in a filling station in Mountmellick.
In both cases Laois Gardaí are appealing to the public for any information.
A Garda spokesperson gave detail to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"On Monday evening September 29 at 9.50pm, a male entered the Applegreen shop in Mountmellick armed with a knife.
"The shopkeeper refused them and nothing was taken. The male left on foot.

The second incident took place five days later.
"On Saturday, October 4, a male armed with a knife approached a woman in a car and demanded money, on the Mountmellick Road in Portlaoise. She beeped her horn and he ran off," the Gardaí report.
They appeal to anyone with information on either incident, to contact any Garda station. See other Laois Crime/Court reports
