A Credit Union has issued a warning to members after scammers attempted to gain personal details from a member of the public.
“Portarlington Credit Union has been made aware of a recent scam attempt where a member received a phone call from a withheld phone number, with the caller claiming to be from Portarlington Credit Union.
During the call, the caller asked the member to confirm personal details. The member correctly ended the call. This was a scam.
We urge all members to remain extremely cautious and do not engage with calls of this nature,” Portarlington Credit Union said in a statement.

They advised people that “Portarlington Credit Union will never contact members from a withheld phone number. We will never ask for sensitive or personal information unexpectedly over the phone."
"If you receive a suspicious call, text, or message claiming to be from Portarlington Credit Union, do not respond. Please contact us directly using the phone number 057 86 23336 or call into the office," they advised.
Portarlington Credit Union thanked members for their continued vigilance and cooperation in helping to keep accounts secure.
