Portlaoise District Court
A court was told a woman had a lump the size of a golf ball on her head following an alleged assault in Laois.
A man (43), with a Laois address, is accused of assaulting the woman at an address in Laois on February 9, 2026. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Portlaoise District Court via video link.
Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said DPP directions are awaited in the case.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said a medical report will need to be sent to the DPP. He said it was alleged that the injured party had “a lump on her forehead approximately the size of a golf ball”.
Judge Catherine Ryan remanded the defendant in custody on consent to Portlaoise District Court on April 13.
