James Tynan - Clonaslee

The death took place on Friday, January 19 of James (Jim) Tynan, Clondalkin formerly of Clonaslee, Co. Laois and Semperit and Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcain.

Peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Moyglare Nursing Home, Maynooth. Predeceased by his brother Michael and sister, Sr. Claire.

Beloved husband of Vera and much loved father to Joe, Ann, Stephen and Fiona. Jim will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife, sons, daughters, his 13 adored grandchildren, sons in law, daughters in law, sister Sheila, extended family and friends.

Reposing at his home on Sunday, 21st January, between 4pm - 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, 22nd January, at 11am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin with burial thereafter in Newlands Cross Cemetery.

Patrick Lacey - Stradbally

The death took place on Friday, January 19 of Patrick (Paddy) Lacey, Rosemount, Newpark, Co. Kilkenny and formerly Old Mills, Stradbally, Co. Laois. Peacefully at Ardkeen Hospital, Co. Waterford on 19th January 2023.

Funeral arrangements not yet confirmed. 

Josephine Henderson - Portlaoise

The death took place on Thursday, January 18 of Josephine Henderson (née Byrne), 30 Grenville, Portlaoise, Laois, R32 C8NP / Roscrea, Tipperary And formerly of Arklow, Co. Wicklow.

Peacefully at Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.

Pre-deceased by her husband Ken and sister Margaret.

Deeply regretted by her daughters Tracy and Andrea, sons-in-law Ciarán and Niall, granddaughter Trieu, brothers Desi and Sean, nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at her home at 30 Grenville, Portloaise (R32 C8NP) on Sunday evening from 5,00pm to 7.00pm. Private removal on Monday morning at 11.30am arriving in St. Peter & Paul's Church, Portlaoise for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Cremation to take place afterwards in Shannon Crematorium, Co. Clare.

Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to The Irish Cancer Society.

Betty O'Brien - Donaghmore

The death took place on Thursday, January 18 of Betty O'Brien (nee Bracken), "Willowfern", Donaghmore, Co. Laois

In her 98th year, peacefully at Ballard Lodge, Portlaoise surrounded by her loving family and wonderful staff at Ballard Lodge.

Predeceased by her husband Billy and son John. Sadly missed by her adoring family,daughters Mary and Jacintha, son Liam, sons-in-law John and James, daughter-in-law Deirdre, her grandchildren Barry, David, Gavin, Nicola, Shell, Yvonne, Bill and Aoibhe, her 13 great-grandchildren, her wonderful neighbours and large circle of relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence "Willowfern " Donaghmore (Eircode R32 AX51) all day Friday, January 19th, pausing for prayers at 7 o'clock. Removal on Saturday morning to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Rathdowney arriving for Requiem mass at 12. noon. Interment afterwards in Bealady Cemetery.

Philomena Lalor - Ballinakill
The Death has occored of Philomena Lalor (née Tyrell), Lisbigney, Ballinakill formerly of Coolrain and Shanahoe who died in the exceptional care of the staff of The Transitional Care Unit at Abbeyleix Hospital in her 97th year surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her daughter Doris, brothers Sean, Charlie and Christy Joe, sisters Christina, Bridie and Maureen. Philomena will be dearly missed by her loving husband Paddy, sons John, Colm, Declan and Eamon, brother Dave, daughters in law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence from 2pm on Friday with Rosary at 8 pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12noon in St Brigid's Church, Ballinakill which can be viewed on the link www.ballinakillknockparish.com followed by interment in St Brigid's Cemetery.

Kathleen (Kay) Corcoran - Stradbally / Naas

The death of Kathleen (Kay) Corcoran (née Boyle), Inch, Stradbally and Naas, Kildare, occurred on January 17.

Kay passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Jim. Sadly missed by her son and daughters, Sarah, James and Marie, and their partners Alan, Kathryn and James, and grandchildren Mary Kate, Alice, James and Dan. Sisters Marjorie, Anya, and Jenny, brothers Joe, Richard and the extended Corcoran and Boyle families, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Kay will be reposing in the Presentation Chapel, Stradbally (R32 WRH9) on Friday evening 19th of January from 4pm until 8pm, with the recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Kay’s requiem Mass will take place on Saturday morning the 20th of January at 11am in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally which can be viewed on https://svtparish.ie/webcam followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium, Dublin at 1.30pm, which can be viewed on www.dctrust.ie/location/newlands-cross/chapel-webstream.html

The Corcoran family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and care staff in Portlaoise Hospital for their wonderful help and care they gave to Kay. The Corcoran family would also like to thank you for your support and understanding during this sensitive and difficult time.

Bertie Stone - Luggacurren

The death has occurred of the late Bertie (Robert) Stone, Luggacurren, suddenly at Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally.

Pre-deceased by his wife Kathleen. Loving father of Anna and David. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, son, daughter-in-law Miriam, granddaughters Madi and Lara, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, family circle, friends and neighbours.

Paddy McCartney - Clough

The death occurred of Paddy McCartney of Leixlip, Co Kildare and formerly of Clough, Co Laois on January 17, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at St Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh.

Paddy, beloved husband of Maureen and a devoted father to Emma; Sadly missed by his loving wife, daughter, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Lucan on Friday evening (January 19th) from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Removal on Saturday morning (January 20th) to the Church of St. Charles Borromeo, Confey arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.00am followed by cremation at Newland’s Cross Crematorium. Mary Griffiths (née Loughman) - Rathdowney

The death has occurred of Mary Griffiths (neé Loughman), formerly of Davebrook Road, Mississauga, Canada. Born on October 27, 1927, she died peacefully on January 13, 2024 at Chartwell Retirement Residence, Burlington. Originally from Raheensheara, Killasmeestia, Rathdowney. Predeceased by her husband Hiram Griffiths, her parents Joe and Ellen Loughman, siblings Michael, Eileen and Rody.

Deeply missed by her nieces Elaine Loughman, Sr. Mary Loughman, Ena McKiernan, and nephews Michael (Hauley), Roy and Jim Loughman. Grandnieces and grand nephews, and extended family. Cousins Mary O'Callaghan and the McGovern, McLaughlin, O’Leary, Sheeran, McManus, Mannion, Nicholson, Endersen and Griffiths families.

Sadly missed by her many friends and neighbours in Mississauga who meant so much to her, with particular gratitude to her close friend and carer Sandra Rose, Dr Kevin Flynn and all the staff at Chartwell Retirement Residence.

Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Neweduk- Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga on Friday, January 19, from 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church, 1171 Clarkson Rd N, Mississauga, ON L5J 2W1 on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11am.
