Deaths in Laois - May 3, 2018

Maud Dunne - Mountrath

The death took place on Tuesday, May 1 of Maud Dunne (née Prescott) of "The Shop" Raheen, Mountrath. 

Surrounded by her loving family, predeceased by her husband Paddy. Sadly missed by her loving daughters Marie and Annette, sons Vincent and Brendan, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home from 4pm on Thursday evening, with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Friday morning to St. Fintan's Church, Raheen, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Patrick Hynan - Portarlington

The death took place on Wednesday, May 2 of Patrick (Paddy) Hynan of Portlaoise Road, Portarlington. 

Unexpectedly at his Residence. 

Funeral Arrangements to be announced later. 

Michael Byrne - Ballacolla

The death took place on Monday, April 30 of Michael Byrne of Springfield, Ballacolla.

Peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Michael predeceased by his wife Mary and his grandchild Jason. Deeply regretted by his family Mary, Michael, Martina, Kay and Donal, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law and his beloved grandchildren Amanda, Johnathan, Mary, Yvonne, Darren, Ciarán, Colin, Cormac, Connor, Emma, Alan, Jack and Tom, his sisters Sheila and Kathleen, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his daughter Kay's residence (Springfield) on Thursday from 4pm with rosary at 9pm. Funeral mass in St. Canice's Church, Clough on Friday at 12 noon followed by burial in Clough cemetery.

Stanley White - Mountrath

The death took place on Tuesday, May 1 of Stanley (Sammy) White of Crannagh, Mountrath.

Peacefully  in the care of all the staff at Ballard Nursing Home, Portlaoise. He will be remembered with much love and happy memories by his sister Doris, his nieces Moira and Oonagh and his nephew Denis as well as his great nephews and great niece and especially by his many wonderful close friends and neighbours.

Reposing at his home in Crannagh, Mountrath on Thursday from 7pm until 9pm. His funeral will take place on Friday at 11am at Portlaoise Methodist Church.

James Gannon - Dublin and Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, April 30 of James Gannon of Mount Merrion and Portlaoise.

Peacefully in the devoted care of Dr Eoin Tiernan, the nurses and the Staff of St. Vincent’s Private Hospital. Beloved and dearly loved husband of Maeve and the late Anne. He will be deeply missed by his sons Paul, Jimmy, and Bill, daughters Mary, Sarah and Carina, sons and daughters-in-law, brothers, Anthony and Ignatius, sisters Gabe and Gertie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, his cherished grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Jim will repose in Fanagans Funeral Home, Dundrum, Dublin 14 on Wednesday evening, from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Thérèse, Mount Merrion on Thursday morning at 10am followed by burial at Deans Grange Cemetery.

Br. Thomas Sheehy - Castletown

The death took place on Sunday, April 22 of Br. Thomas Sheehy of Victory Park, Johannesburg, South Africa and late of P.O. Ballingarry, Limerick and Castletown.

Deeply regretted by his sisters Bridie and Miriam, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, friends and confreres.

Funeral Mass in St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church, in Victory Park on Friday 4th May at 10.30am. Mass in Miguel House, De La Salle Monastery, Castletown, Portlaoise, on Friday 4th May at 11am for Br. Thomas.
