Counting has resumed in the Laois Local Election this morning after being adjourned last night.

Counting in the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Local Electoral Area has now begun. The doubtful votes in Portlaoise are also being scrutinised by candidates.

Earlier this morning returning officer Donal Brennan opened the sealed room where votes were kept overnight at the venue in the Kea Lew Business Park.

Despite candidates being elected across the country, Laois is yet to declare anyone.
