Coldplay concerts in Ireland are not the reason for holding the 2024 Electric Picnic festival earlier than normal, the Festival Republic CEO has said.
The 2024 Electric Picnic is taking place two weeks earlier than it has done since it began 20 years previously.
The earlier scheduling caused speculation that it was to avoid the four Coldplay gigs in Croke Park which take place from late August to early September in 2024, with tickets completely sold out.
However this week the Electric Picnic promotor denied this is the reason.
“It’s not about that. It’s something we’ve been giving some consideration to for a while.
“We want to see how it plays out, the booking of the talent, the weather, and see whether its the right year to be going year on year. The response so far from the Electric Picnic community is very positive," Mr Benn said in a press interview on Tuesday, August 29.
The 2024 Laois based festival will take place from August 16 to 18.
This weekend it returns to the Cosby estate in Stradbally with 70,000 ticket holders arriving from Thursday August 31 onwards.
