Laois Gardaí are collaborating with Muintir na Tíre to help make Laois locals' property less at risk of theft.

The Community Policing Unit at Portlaoise Garda Station are collaborating with Muintir na Tíre to host a property marking event.

"We encourage you to bring along your personal items, from large machinery to small electronic devices," Laois Gardaí said.

The event will take place at Portlaoise Retail Park on Saturday, ️February 7 from 11am to 2pm.

A machine will brand your drivers licence number onto an object, making it easy for Gardaí to identify an owner. It also reduced the risks of theft, and the onward sale of the object by thieves.

This machine features a laser that is suitable for branding of all items, easily recording things for proof of ownership.

Items that can be branded include trailers, horse boxes, quads, bikes, garden tools such as mowers and strimmers, helmets and gear, along with electronics such as phones, tablets, laptops and other devices.

Musical instruments can also be branded by the machine, along with power washers, power tools and much more.
