Seven huge events happening in Laois this June
As the warm weather is set to continue, there is going to be plenty to do and see in Laois over the month of June.
Some fantastic local events will be happening throughout the county and we have all the latest info on them here in one place.
The Gordon Bennett Irish Classic Run will kick off proceedings this June Bank Holiday Weekend from Friday, June 1 to Monday, June 4. There will be a number of different car runs over the weekend covering different counties across the midlands and a gala dinner to finish the weekend. See all the details on the website here.
Ballyroan Country Music Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday of the June Bank Holiday this weekend. It will see big names of the country music world like Derek Ryan and Marty Mone performing to huge crowds indoors in Ballyroan. Laois County Fleadh 2018 will takeover the town of Mountmellick this weekend from Friday to Monday entertaining crowds with traditional song and dance. This is set to be a memorable weekend for Mountmellick hosting the Laois Fleadh competitions and events as hundreds of people will descend to celebrate music and fun. Read more here.
The Liam Kealy Memorial Race will take place on Sunday, June 3. Family and friends of well-known Liam Kealy from Ballyadams have organised a 5km/10km walk/run which will kick off from Ballylinan Clubhouse. All proceeds from the event will go to Mallow Search and Rescue. Read more here.
The Laois Garden Festival will take place the following weekend on Sunday, June 10 at Spink Community Grounds in Abbeyleix. This is a great day out for garden enthusiasts and families. Speakers include Bob Brown, Paul Smyth and Dermot O'Neill with family entertainment on the day. Check out the website here for tickets.
The Laois Heartlands Rally will also take place on Sunday, June 10 hosted by Laois Rally-Sport Club. The Heartlands Rally draws a big crowd and there will be a number of road closures to accommodate the rally in the vicinity of Raheen and Deerpark between 09.00a.m and 19.00 p.m. on June, 10 2018. The Old Fort Quarter Festival is set to takeover Portlaoise town centre on June 22, 23 and 24 weekend. There will be free heritage events and children's entertainment on Main Street and Fitzmaurice Place for families from Friday to Sunday. Free music will be held on stages on Main Street featuring acts like The Frank & Walters, Transmitter, Smash Hits and many more. Line up for Old Fort Quarter Festival 2018 revealed!
