Allianz Hurling League action might have been scarce at the weekend but that won't take away from the fact that Laois' Paddy Purcell has been named as this week's GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.
Laois played Westmeath in Mullingar in what was a re-fixture of their Round 1 game after a post-Storm Éowyn freeze forced the game to be called off on Saturday, January 25.
Tommy Fitzgerald's Laois team defeated Westmeath. 4-18 to 1-19. The only other hurling game that was played this past weekend was the clash between Mayo and Cavan in Division 3.
The O'Moore County also had six players named in the Team of the Week. Goalkeeper Cathal Dunne, Fiachra C-Fennell, Lee Cleere, David Dooley, Jer Quinlan and the Hurler of the Week Paddy Purcell.
Laois will welcome Carlow to Laois Hire O'Moore Park in Round 4 of Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling Leagues on Sunday, February 23.
