The new route is a 3km route starting and ending in Corrig, bringing walkers around scenic areas of Stradbally.

The new loop walk project was funded under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) through the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht (DRCDG).

“I am delighted to officially open the Stradbally Loop Walk, a wonderful amenity that will benefit both the local community and visitors to the area for years to come,” Cllr Walsh said.

“Projects such as this encourage healthy living, social connection and appreciation of the natural environment. I commend everyone involved in bringing this initiative to fruition, particularly SVT Activity & Wellness Hub, Stradbally Tidy Towns and all community volunteers,” he praised.

The ORIS funding programme supports the development of outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas, helping communities to enhance local amenities while promoting active lifestyles and tourism opportunities.

The official opening ceremony will take place at Court Square, Stradbally, commencing at 12.30pm, followed by a guided 3km walk and refreshments.

The event is being organised by the SVT Activity & Wellness Hub in partnership with Stradbally Tidy Towns, with support from Laois County Council.

Members of the public, local community groups and visitors are warmly invited to attend the official opening and participate in a 3km community walk followed by refreshments.
