Learn about Laois bog project two decades in the making this November

A talk on a Laois bog project two decades in the making is due to take place by the end of the month.

All interested parties are welcome to attend the talk on the Abbeyleix Bog Project, which encompasses an area of almost 500 acres of diverse habitats including recovering raised bog, lagg, cutaway, wet carr woodland and meadows.

The project is supported by a group of volunteers who work with the community and other organisations to protect the bog in Abbeyleix through promotion and education.

Work on placing the last section of bog-bridge on the southern end of the Abbeyleix Bog started at the end of October, with volunteers from Abbeyleix and surrounds coming in numbers to help complete the 450 metres of infrastructure at the outer trail of the site.

The talk takes place in the Midlands Park Hotel on Thursday November 23 at 8pm.

The cost to enter is €5 or free for members of Laois Heritage Society.
