'Seeking a very jolly man' special job vacancy in Laois

Only very jolly men need apply for a special job in Laois that only runs for one month.

Dunnes Stores in Portlaoise is this July seeking "a very jolly man" to apply play the role of Santa Claus in Dunnes Stores at their Santa Experience this Christmas 2025.

"Must be cheerful, energetic, professional, jolly, and possess experience working with children and/or events. Previous Santa experience and beard preferred but not essential. Full training and Santa suit provided," the jobs description states.

They prefer Santa actors with experience in acting, childcare and customer service.

The real one does it purely for the love of children, but these Santas will be paid €20 to €30 per hour, working eight hours day shifts, weekdays and every weekend from November 25 to December 23. Multiple Santa actors will be hired for the shifts.

The company is also seeking Santa photographers for the season, who must have their own professional camera and will be paid from €14 per hour.

"Bubbly and outgoing personality wanted to take family portraits with Santa Claus at Ireland's #1 Santa Experience. Photographers must have experience interacting directly with children and families. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure while keeping a smile on your face - this is the North Pole, after all! Must be able to work with strict time limits especially on busy weekends. Fluent English is essential," the company states.
