Major section of N80 in Laois to close for a month

Road users can expect major traffic disruption around Portlaoise to mid August.

Laois County Council has announced plans to shut a section of N80 daily between Portlaoise and Mountmellick until August 18. 

A stop go system currently in operation on a stretch of the N80 between Mountmellick and Portlaoise is causing traffic delays for road users.

The council now says it will close the road and introduce a traffic diversions on the route daily between 8am and 6pm from July 17 to August 18 to facilitate works between Kyletalesha and Derrycloney. 

The council has published maps of the proposed closure and diversion routes for the duration of the works.
