Busy agenda at Port scouts annual meeting

A busy year, plans for the future and retirements after many years of services featured on the agenda of the recent annual general meeting of the Laois 4th Portarlington Scouts.

A busy year, plans for the future and retirements after many years of services featured on the agenda of the recent annual general meeting of the Laois 4th Portarlington Scouts.

Chairman Shane O’Neill opened the meeting and welcomed all. The minutes from 2014 were read, proposed and second. Treasurer John Gallagher went through the group financial report, Group leader Paddy Whelan informed the floor that after 23 years John Gallagher and Cora Kavanagh were stepping down as Treasurer and vice treasurer. Paddy thanked both for their hard work through the years and wished them the best.

Sandie O’Leary was elected as the new treasurer and Elaine Whelan was elected as vice treasurer.

Slyvia Horan was elected as sectary and Shane O’Neill will remain as chairperson.

Paddy Whelan gave a group leaders report. Joe McAlteer gave the report for beavers. Elaine Whelan gave the cubs. Paddy gave his report on scouts and Roy Champ gave his report on Ventures. Some events for the coming year include, summer camps for, cubs, scouts and Ventures, the sphere for cubs and the sword for the ventures. The scouts will take part in the St Patick’s day parade as helping with the French Festival.
