Dark spot in Dromahair needs extra public light

Laois County Council has agreed to visit Timahoe Cemetery with a view to installing additional lighting.

Fianna Fail Cllr Paschal McEvoy requested the extra lights in a motion at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.

He asked “that Laois County Council consider erecting extra two public lights at Timahoe Cemetery”.

In a written response, a Road Design Engineer stated that: “Road Design will meet with Cllr Paschal McEvoy at this location and assess the current public lighting. Installation of two new lights at this location may cost approximately €6,000 to €9,000 depending on the amount of civil works required/nearest ESB connection point available.”

Cllr McEvoy said “there is nothing along the whole front of the cemetery.” He said there was a new wall being built at the location and there was a light either end of the cemetery.

Cllr McEvoy said he would be willing to use his discretionary funding for the lighting if needs be.
