Village gives massive support to Laois Offaly Families for Autism

Laois truck and tractor run raises huge money for county's Autism charity

Members of the Camross truck and tractor run present their cheque to LOFFA, the proceeds of their 2024 run.

In the one weekend, two disability charities in Laois have benefited massively from two separate truck and tractor runs, thanks to the generosity of participants and onlookers.

Days after a huge sum was presented to Down Syndrome Laois by Mountmellick Macra, a second big cheque was given to another good cause.

Laois Offaly Families for Autism (LOFFA) have received a welcome boost from the Camross Charity Truck and Tractor Run committee.

The fun run was held over two days last October and it has raised a tidy €16,044 for LOFFA's good work.

LOFFA’s event managers Aisling Bray and Lizzy Walton along with Vice Chairperson Jackie came to Bergin's Inn in Camross for the cheque presentation on Sunday, March 23.

The Camross committee also donated €1,000 to Camross Parish.

LOFFA has thanked the Camrossians for their support.

"A vast amount of money was presented to Laois Offaly Families for Autism this evening from the fantastic Camross charity Truck & Tractor Run committee.

"A cheque for €16,044 was gifted to LOFFA’s Vice Chairperson Jackie Ní Ghaothíu in Bergins The Camross Inn.

"Thank you for this generous gift, your support makes a significant impact to all our families. The amount of work and commitment your committee puts in every year to raise funds for charities is remarkable. Thank you also to LOFFA’s members who sold and bought tickets for the raffle and to Catherine Bracken who did a tremendous amount of work over the few days in Camross," the LOFFA team said.

There is more good news for them to come this year, as LOFFA will again be the recipient of the 2025 Camross Charity Truck and Tractor Run.

"Thank you for choosing LOFFA again for 2025. This will be your 10th Annual Truck & Tractor run and by the sounds of it its going to be the place to be," say LOFFA.

LOFFA is a local, non-profit charity based in Laois and Offaly in Ireland. It supports over 100 local families who have a child with a diagnosis of autism. All funds raised go directly to subsidising vital services need for their children such as Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Play Therapy, Behavioural therapy and Counselling.
