Mountmellick remains impassable due to severe flooding in the town.
Gardaí advise motorists to avoid all routes into the town this morning.
Traffic between Portlaoise and Tullamore intending to use the N80 should divert via Portarlington.
Meanwhile, there is a collision in the left lane of the M8 Dublin/Cork Rd southbound between J3 Rathdowney and J4 Urlingford. Motorists should take care on approach.
