Council announced planned road closure
Laois County Council has announced a full road closure for almost two weeks from the end of September.
“Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it is intended to temporarily close the Meelick Road, L6310 from N77 Abbeyleix Road to the Regional Road R426/Timahoe Road from the 25th September 2023 to the 6th October 2023. This will be a full road closure between the dates specified,” the council said.
The council said the road closure is necessary to facilitate Road Improvement Works at the Meelick Road Junction to the N77. They say diversions will be clearly signposted.
A map indicating the routes to be closed and the alternative routes will be available for inspection at www.laois.ie and Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise.
Any person wishing to object to the proposed road closure can do so by email to roadsadmin@laoiscoco.ie, or in writing to the Administrative Officer, Roads Section, Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, James Fintan Lalor Avenue, Portlaoise no later than 4pm on Friday, August 11.
