AA Roadwatch has reported that the road between Portarlington and Bracknagh has been closed following an early morning crash.
Emergency services are at the seen and diversions can be expected for motorists.
The R419 is a busy route with commuters between Laois and Offaly as well as with school traffic.
It is unclear at this stage if there are any injuries.
