Crash on Laois road causes disruptions to Local Link service

Road accident leaves Laois road impassible, with bus service bypassing locations

The Local Link service in Laois will bypass certain stops following a road closure

TFI Local Link for Laois and Offaly have issued a statement following a road accident in Laois on Friday morning.

The 822 Mountrath to Carlow route has been affected by this road accident, meaning that the bus cannot service Killeshin or Tolerton.

"The service will be back to normal when the road reopens," a TFI spokesperson confirmed.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The 822 route services Mountrath Bridge Street, Abbeyleix Ballinakill Road, Ballinakill Drury’s Pub, Heywood Gardens Entrance Gate, Spink Tirlán, The Swan Health Centre, Clogh GAA Grounds, Clogh Shop, Moneenroe Church Sidegate, Crettyard Bus Éireann Stop, Newtown Bus Éireann Stop, Tolerton Beehans, Killeshin Killeshin Stores, Graiguecullen Barrow Valley, Carlow Fire Station, Carlow Coach Park, Carlow SETU, Carlow Mortarstown Upper, and Tyndall College.

The route was launched in 2023 and provides connectivity to regional bus and rail services in Mountrath and Carlow.

It is frequently used by Laois students travelling to Carlow SETU.
