Portlaoise Boxing Club's Lorcan Holohan, the 2025 Senior Cadet National Champion at Lightwelterweight, struck gold on the international stage at the World of Havoc Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
Team Ireland returned from the USA with 21 golds and 3 silvers, highlighting the strength of Irish youth boxing. Lorcan was one of 25 National Senior Cadet Champions selected to compete, representing Laois and Portlaoise on the international stage.
The World of Havoc, a Tier 1 event sanctioned by USA Boxing, saw Lorcan defeating Xavier Villa Cruz from California in his opening bout and overcoming Florida’s Christopher Thigpen in the final, securing a top-level international performance.
This tournament featured athletes from 10 counties, including Antrim, Cork, Dublin, Donegal, Galway, Tipperary, Tyrone, Westmeath, and Wexford, but Lorcan’s achievement marked a proud moment for Laois and Portlaoise boxing.
Having already claimed his national title in May, Lorcan continues to build on his impressive trajectory, further establishing himself as one of Laois’ rising boxing stars.
