WATCH: Laois shopowner fearing closure speaks on national television

A Laois shop owner who fears closure over an ESB bill debt, has spoken on national television about her situation.

Ela Oczachowska who employs six staff at her convenience shop in the heart of Mountmellick, spoke on Virgin Media's Tonight Show about her stressful situation caused by the rapidly rising electricity bills.

Ela revealed her situation first to the Leinster Express / Laois Live last week. Read our interview in full below.

She says that a combination of fewer customers and rising electricity bills that she cannot fully pay, has left her in tears every day with worry about being disconnected and having to close the shop down, just 16 months after opening.

Meanwhile she is unable to qualify for government tax supports and payment plans.
