Laois County Council has officially launched a project overseeing the upgrading of walking trails in Laois.

Laois County Council, in partnership with Pedal Vintage Durrow Community Bike Hire Scheme, confirmed the commencement of works to upgrade various, existing, walking trails, to make them suitable for leisure cyclists and vulnerable users.
The Council have said that the project will deliver an 'enhanced visitor experience, enhanced safety and greater diversity' in terms of those enabled to use these popular trails.
The focus of the development is towards the Dunmore and Capponellan trails, both just outside of Durrow, enhancing up to 10km of trails.
The project is funded through the Department of Rural and Community Development's Outdoor Recreation and Infrastructure Fund, with match funding provided by Laois County Council.
The Project Budget is €550,000, with Laois County Council delivering the Project on behalf of the Grantee, Pedal Vintage Durrow Community Bike Hire Scheme.
