Laois County Council confirm work to take place on road in Errill

A busy Laois road on the Tipperary border is in a ‘horrendous’ condition and badly needs to be repaired, a Council meeting was told.

Cllr John King tabled a motion asking "that this Council give an update on when road strengthening will commence at the Tipperary County boundary at Lisduff, Errill, as this part of the road is in a very bad condition. Also, that this Council give an update on when strengthening will be done on the road adjacent to the Green Roads pub in Ballybrophy"

In a written response read by Senior Executive Engineer, Rory O’Callaghan, the Council stated that: “This work is scheduled to be carried out from the end of October to mid November 2026.”

Cllr King welcomed the news and said “it is a very short distance but it is in a horrendous condition.” He said he uses the road everyday.

Offering his full support and seconding the motion, Cllr James Kelly said “it is a very busy road and it does need the works.” He said it would be no harm if another street light was installed at the location.

Cllr Conor Bergin said it would be great to see the work done at the location. He said there remained issues with surface water on the Green Road.

The issue was discussed during the October meeting of Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
