Have your say- help name Laois County Council's new housing development

Laois County Council have announced the construction of 14 housing units in Portarlington, and have asked the public to help name the development.

The homes are intended for the elderly, and will be located near Bracklone Street in Portarlington.

Laois County Councillor Aidan Mullins posted a call for submissions on Facebook, asking for suitable name suggestions.

"I suggested that we ask the community for their say," said Cllr Mullins.
"We've had responses that are both humorous and serious, the results have been great. We'd love to hear what people have to say," he said.
"It's a lovely development, it's not just for the elderly, it's for people that could be 50+ with mobility issues and so on.
I'm looking forward to seeing it come to fruition," Cllr Mullins finished.
So far there are almost 75 suggestions commented beneath Cllr Mullin's post, including 'Sandy Banks Lane', 'Bracklone Drive', and 'Kincora Way' after Tom Carey's Kincora Stores, which closed last June.
'Terry Lawlor Way' has also been suggested, in recognition of the voluntary work undertaken locally by Portarlington man Terry Lawlor.
Some of the quirkier suggestions include 'Mullins Mansions', 'Aidan Avenue', and 'Little Offaly'.
