A busy Laois carpark will close for two days next week, forcing drivers to think elsewhere for their parking options.
The Tower Hill carpark in Portlaoise is next to the Mill Road memorial garden and is owned and managed by Laois County Council.
It has 69 fee paying parking spaces but many have been taken up by construction workers at the convent social housing project next door.
Recently, work has begun to build a new walkway and cycle lane through Portlaoise beside the River Triogue.
It will mean the permanent loss of a couple of parking spaces in Tower Hill carpark, but a new option to stay out of the car for Portlaoise residents crossing the town.
To facilitate the next stage of that work, the council has given notice that the carpark will be shut for two days.
The affected dates are Wednesday and Thursday, November 19 and 20, from 8am until 6pm.

The council has explained that the closure is for the "Triogue Way Footpath Improvement Scheme".
