Eoin and Dylan Fitzpatrick to be laid to rest this week.
Details have been confirmed for the funeral of the late Eoin Fitzpatrick and his son Dylan who tragically passed away in a road traffic accident while on holiday in Turkey.
Eoin and his beloved son Dylan (aged 10) of Ballytegan, Portlaoise and Clonrooske Abbey, Portlaoise, will be laid to rest in Portlaoise after a funeral mass on Tuesday, July 25.
The death notice published by their families reflects the grief of the loss being suffered by so many for the father and son who were loved so much.
"The boys are deeply mourned by their utterly heartbroken family and friends," it said.
"Eoin and Dylan were two beautiful souls who enriched the lives of all those around them. We are eternally grateful to have been fortunate enough to know them, to spend time with them, to share laughter and joy with them, to consider them friends, to call them family.
"We will carry them in our hearts forever. In ár gcroí go deo," said the notice.
It said they are mourned by Eoin’s eldest son Cian "of whom he was so immensely proud, and Dylan’s big brother and best friend".
Also grieving are Dylan’s "cherished grandparents", Rita and Frank Fitzpatrick, sisters and aunts; Maryse, Ciara and Aideen; brothers and uncle-in-laws; Mark and Travis and nieces, nephews and cousins; Abi, Kandece, Charlie, Lily and Artie.
It said they are also being mourned by Dylan's "devastated mother" Claire Dowling, his adoring grandparents Liz and Andy Dowling and his "favourite uncle", Andrew.
Also grieving is Eoin's "treasured partner" Suzie and her two young children Jake and Leon, "all of whom were so very special to the boys".
The notice said the Eoin and Dylan are also missed by Eoin’s aunts, uncles and cousins, his "incredible friends", and Dylan’s peers and teachers at Scoil Bhríde National School, Portlaoise.
The families also extended thanks to all who have helped them bring the remains of their loved ones home.
"We would like to give special thanks to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust for their support in bringing our boys home; the Irish Embassy in Turkey for their consular assistance; our family in Oregon for their incredible kindness and generosity, our neighbours and friends in Alanya for their unwavering support; and the family who travelled to Turkey in our time of need," it said.
The reposal will take place at their home at Ballytegan (R32Y2RH) on Monday from 2pm with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 12 noon requiem Mass. It may be viewed on https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/
Interment will follow afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.
The families have requested house be strictly private on Sunday and Tuesday.
