Death Notices for Laois - Monday,  February 12,  2024

John Hennessy- Mountmellick

The death has occurred of John Hennessy, Davitt Road, Mountmellick on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Retired manager of Mountmellick Textile Factory. Died peacefully in Portlaoise Hospital. Predeceased by his beloved brother Noel, sister-in-law Aileen, and parents Paddy and Bridie. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Anne, his children Michelle, Dermot, Paul and Aisling, their spouses Tony, Michelle, Victoria and Enda, grandchildren Daniel, Sinead, Sarah, Eilidh, David, Ronan, Oscar, Mia and Fae, brothers Pat and Oliver and wives Kathleen and Barbara, nieces and nephews, and by a wide circle of friends and relatives. Rest in Peace.  Reposing Moloneys Funeral Home Wednesday from 6pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7.30pm. Removal from his home on Thursday morning at 10.40am to St Joseph's Church for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial after in St.Josephs Cemetery.

Dickie Mc Donald- Abbeyleix

The death has occurred of Dickie Mc Donald Cullion House, Mullingar, Westmeath/ Abbeyleix on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.  Peacefully. Deeply regretted by his loving parents Emily and Martin, his brother Malcolm, sister Clodagh, brother -in-law T. J, nieces Céire, and Aóife, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposing at Cullion House Mullingar on Wednesday from 2pm. to 5pm. Removal to St. Patricks Church Ballyroan Laois for 12 noon Requiem Mass on Thursday. Interment afterwards in St. Patricks Cemetery Abbeyleix. Family Flowers only by request. Donations if desired to Muirísa Foundation Moore Abbey Monasterevin. The family ask for bright colours to be worn to celebrate Dickie's bright and colourful life. Rest in Peace.

Sheila Fletcher - Ballybrophy

The death took place on Sunday, February 11 of  Sheila Fletcher, Killadooley, Ballybrophy, Co. Laois, February 11th. 2024, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise in her 92nd. year.

Predeceased by her husband Tommy. Sadly missed by her loving family, sons Fr. Robert (Bobby) and Joe, daughter Kathleen (Gilbert), daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Aidan, grandchildren Antoinette, Lorna, Michael, Muireann, John and Patrick, Lorna's partner Niall, sisters Hannah, Margaret and Mary, brother Billy, brother-in-law Donal, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at O'Sullivan's Funeral Home, Rathdowney on Tuesday afternoon February 13th. from 3 o'clock pausing for prayer at 8 o'clock. Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Assumption, Killasmeestia arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Breakthrough Cancer Research.

Mary Ryan - Crettyard

The death took place on Saturday, February 10 of Mary (Maisie) Ryan, (née Lawlor), Carlow Road, Garrendenny, Crettyard, Carlow / Kilkenny / Laois.

At St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. Sadly missed by her loving husband Paddy, daughter Angela, brother-in-law John, cousins, extended family, her wonderful carer, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlecomer (R95 AK38) from 5pm on Monday (12th Feb.), concluding with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm. Funeral cortege arriving at the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mayo, Crettyard (R93 HY94) on Tuesday for Requiem Mass at 12 Noon. Maisie will be laid to rest thereafter in the adjoining cemetery.

Joe Brophy - Vicarstown

The death took place on Saturday, February 10 of Joe Brophy, Vicarstown, Laois.

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Constance, children Anne, John, Emer, Yvonne, Joseph and Barry, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his daughter Emer's residence Ballyrider, Stradbally (R32 Y8X6) on Tuesday from 2pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday at 11:30am arriving The Church of the Assumption Vicarstown for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to Moyanna Cemetery.

Johanna O'Dooley - Stradbally

The death took place on Saturday, February 10 of Johanna O'Dooley, Grange Upper, Stradbally, Laois.

In her 96th year, Renowned historian. Deeply regretted by Joseph and Mary (Maung), Mary's husband Crispen, their children Liam, Eilish and Thomas, cousins, extended family, relatives and all her neighbours.

Reposing at Ann and Pat Devitt's home (eircode R32Y9R6) on Monday 12th February from 3pm- 7pm, with Rosary Recital at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday 13th February at 11am, in the Church of the Holy Cross Ratheniska, follwed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers. House strictly private on Tuesday morning, please.
