'A true gent': tributes pour in to young Laois man on his passing

A young man from Emo has sadly passed away following a battle with cancer.

Ned Ryan of Morette, Emo passed away at the age of 24.

Condolences on RIP.ie have poured in from all across the county, remembering Ned for his kindness and good nature.

"Ned was one of a kind and has left a mark on everyone he ever met. A true gent," one person said.

"Deepest sympathies to the Ryan and Green families ned was a lovely kind young man and will be missed by all who knew him. On behalf of all players and members of the club, we would like to pass on our condolences to Neds family, friends, and teammates. May he rest in peace," said The Rock GAA Club.

"Those who knew Ned will cherish their memories of him forever. His unique ability to, in the words of Heaney, “catch the heart off guard, and blow it open” with his infectious smile and witty humour will remain in our hearts, a reminder of the warmth and joy he brought to every moment. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him," a person said.

"Like his lovely brothers Ray and Jack, Ned was a kind polite young man. Ned always had a glint in his eye and a huge smile for everyone .He was very popular amongst his peers and staff alike .A gentleman with a great sense of humour and fun who always enjoyed the chats and banter .Ned was so proud of his lovely family and always spoke of you all with great love and pride .He showed incredible strength, determination and courage throughout his illness and was always positive and upbeat. Ned was so loved by so many and will be sorely missed. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam uasal," someone wrote.
"The beautiful smile and glint in his eyes was infectious and he had an amazing way of lifting peoples spirits.He was a fine footballer and leader on the pitch.He was always first on the team sheet and always in pivitol positions around mid field and centre back.He would never let you down and was still able to win his battles with that smile on his face," someone else sympathised.
Ned will be reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Friday from 4 pm with rosary at 8 pm. Removal from his home on Saturday morning to arrive at St Paul's Church, Emo for 12 noon mass. Interment will follow in the New Cemetery, Emo. House strictly family only Saturday morning.
