Late Joe Dunne - Ballyfin

The death has occurred of Joe Dunne, Rossmore, Ballyfin, suddenly on March 2.

Predeceased by his parents Jack and Anne and mother-in-law Breda Quigley.

Sadly missed and dearly loved by his heartbroken wife Helen, children Chloe, Joe and Conor, brother Eamon (Sammy), sisters Anne (O’Rourke), Chris (Byrne), and Theresa (Ramsbottom), father-in-law Joe Quigley, sisters-in-law Nuala, Ann Marie, and Sarah, brothers-in-law Alan, John, Paul, Brendan and Joe, his adored nieces and nephews, aunt Sheila, cousins and his wide circle of friends and nursing colleagues.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath eircode R32Y661 on Friday evening March 6 from 5 pm, concluding with Rosary at 8 pm.

Removal from his home on Sunday afternoon March 8 to St Fintan’s Church, Ballyfin eircode R32TD61, for Requiem Mass at 2 pm followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Ballyfin.

Joe’s Requiem Mass will be live streamed on www.ballyfinparish.ie

Late Ann Doyle - Abbeyleix

The death has occurred of Ann Doyle, Thornberry, Abbeyleix and Bolton, United Kingdom, peacefully on March 2 in the loving care of the staff at Shannon Court Nursing Home, United Kingdom.

Deeply regretted by her husband Jarlath, her children Gareth, Anita,Chris, Barbara, Gillian, Aidan and Heather, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, extended family neighbours and friends.

Funeral will take place in Bolton United Kingdom.

Month's Mind Mass in The Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix on Saturday the 28th of March at 5pm.

May she Rest in Peace.

John Meehan - Portlaoise 

The death occurred of John Meehan, Newpark, Portlaoise on March 3, 2026.

Died peacefully after a long illness borne with courage and dignity, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Jimmy and Mollie Meehan, The Courthouse, Portlaoise.

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary. Dearly loved father to Eoin, Elaine and Clare. Cherished grandfather to Chloe, Keeva, Cian, Luke and Logan. Sons-in-law John and Dylan, brothers Pat and Seamus, sister Mary Ferns, brother-in-law Bernie, sisters-in-law Eileen and Marion, extended family, neighbours, a wide circle of friends and former colleagues in Eircom.

Reposing on this Thursday in Keegan's Funeral Home from 5:30 until 8 pm with prayers at 7:30. Removal also on this Thursday evening to SS Peter & Paul's Church at 8 pm for funeral prayers.

Requiem Mass at 11 am on Friday, March 6, in SS Peter & Paul's Church at 11 am. Burial afterwards in SS Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Family flowers only. House private.

Sylvia Gaffney - Rathdowney

The death has occurred of Sylvia Gaffney neé Ryan, Cronan Grove, Shannon, Co Clare and late of Rathdowney.

Died peacefully in Carrigoran House Newmarket-on-Fergus surrounded by her loving family on the 4th March 2026.

Predeceased by her husband John.

Deeply missed by her loving family, sons Francis and John James, daughters-in-law Fiona and Deirdre, grandchildren Clodagh, Elaine and Millie, brothers Martin and her twin brother John, sisters-in-law Eileen and Patricia, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Sylvia's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Sylvia will repose in McMahon's Funeral Home Shannon on Thursday, March 5 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm followed by removal to Ss. John and Paul Church. Funeral Mass Friday, 6th March at 11 am followed by burial afterwards in Illaunmanagh Cemetery.

Messages of sympathy can be sent to McMahon Funeral Directors.
