A Laois primary school will celebrate an extraordinary 150 years in education this month.
Mayo National School first opened as Tolerton National School in 1875, and is located near the Laois / Kilkenny border.
The school will celebrate their anniversary on Saturday May 10, with a mass in Mayo church at 3pm.
The mass will be followed by refreshments in the primary school.
"This date will mark exactly to the day when 150 years ago Tolerton NS first Roll Books began and it officially opened as a registered national school," the school have said.
"So please help us spread the word and share with as many past pupils of Mayo NS, and indeed Tolerton NS, and invite as many as possible plus their families to join us in our celebrations.
"We will have pictures and stories from past pupils on their fondest and funniest memories of their time in school."
An evening of celebrations will take place in Behan's of Tolerton at 8pm.
The school will display roll books, old photographs and storied from their 150 years in operation.

Their second class students celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 3.
