Laois girl who started own egg delivery business hands over donation to LOFFA

A young Laois girl who started her own business delivering free range eggs after rescuing hens has made a special donation to Laois Offaly Families For Autism (LOFFA).

Arabella Gorman, from Mountrath, decided back in April to give the proceeds of her egg selling to LOFFA for Rainbow Day.

This week LOFFA members met with Arabella and praised her for her kindness.

LOFFA shared on social media: "I finally got to meet this lovely young lady, what a kind and good hearted child she is. Arabella raised a massive €129.71 for LOFFA, she decided back in April that she wanted to give the proceeds of her egg selling to LOFFA for Rainbow Day. She works very hard taking care of her hens before & after school making sure they are fed and watered. She really is a credit to her family. Arabella was very interested to hear how LOFFA help young children her own age and asked could she take part again next year… Thank you Arabella."

Arbella, a pupil of Camross National School, previously told the Leinster Express/Laois Life how her 'Bells Happy Hens' business came about.

"My mammy always had hens growing up but we wanted to get some for me so we rescued some. We had lots of eggs then and we couldn’t use them all so my mammy's friends  asked to buy some off me and then we put up our honest box," said Arabella.

"In the morning I collect and wash the eggs and put them in the cartons. I put some in my honest box and then I deliver some with my mammy to people who can’t collect them in my town.

"I am very happy because lots of people come to buy my eggs, neighbours, friends and people from my town. They all have been very kind to me.

"I really enjoy getting up before school and looking after my hens and ducks. I feed them and fill the water pots and their swimming pool. I like talking to people when they call to my house to buy eggs."
