IN PICTURES: Stunning photos at Laois gallery opening of Peatlands

Dunamaise Arts Centre hosts month long immersive exhibition celebrating bog ecology

Artists behind the first immersive Laois exhibition, Peatlands, showing at the Dunamaise Arts Centre Gallery this February in Portlaoise, gave talks this week at its launch. More below these photos by Alf Harvey. TAP NEXT to view them.

Speakers, Monica de Bath, Desmond Finnamore, Tina Claffey and Aoife Kirk with Michelle de Forge, Dunamaise director; David Broderick, Creative Ireland Laois; County Librarian Bernie Foran and Laura Dunne, Dunamaise Arts Centre with the Immersive Installation at the launch of the Peatlands Exhibition in the Dunamaise Arts Centre.

The artists include Tina Claffey - Artist/photographer, and Des Finnamore from Abbeyleix Bog Project, Community Wetlands Forum / Irish Rural Link - Connecting Communities with Peatlands. Also exhibiting soundscapes & field recordings is Lisa Dowling Scott, with Visual Artist Kathrine Geoghegan, Artist, Curator & Creative producer Charleen Hurtubis, Creative Engineer Fergus O’Haga and Contributing Artist Paola Catizone.

There is also an accompanying photography exhibition in the Dunamaise Café Showcase by Tina Claffey.

Peatlands continues at Dunamaise Arts Centre Gallery through to Sunday 3 March.
