It's beginning to feel a little like Christmas in Portlaoise, with festive streetlights already starting to twinkle along the county town's Main Street this week, and shop windows decorated for the coming trading season.
The lights are funded by Downtown Portlaoise traders group with the support of Laois County Council.
They are expected to be fully in place by November 24.

The town is getting a new style of Christmas market.
Rather than the Main Street market, a ten day long Christmas Plaza Market and Fun Fair will take place in the civic plaza, between Laois County Council and Supermacs. Read more on that above.
